Irish students at Salamanca 1592-1638

Drawing of an Irish Salamancan

The 2009 issue of Archivium Hibernicum features a biographical register of students in the Irish College, Salamanca (1592-1638), based on a document in the Salamanca archive housed in the Russell Library, Maynooth.

This valuable information will be of interest to local historians and those working on the formation of the counter-reformation clergy in early modern Europe. It will be complemented by a prosopographical list of the students of the Irish College in Rome (1628-1800), edited by Matteo Binasco and Vera Orshel, which will appear in next year’s issue (vol. 63, 2010).
